Imperialism has been found in the histories of Japan, the Assyrian Empire, the Chinese Empire, the Roman Empire, Greece, the Persian Empire, and the Ottoman Empire, ancient Egypt, and India and was a basic component to the conquests of Genghis Khan and other warlords.

I am glad to say America is not forming an empire to sieze other nations and run them. We love them and leave them.

coadie: We, the US have over 700 military bases in more than 160 countries. This is the definition of empire. We haven't left Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Diego Garcia or Hawaii and we ill be in Iraq and Afghanistan for the foreseeable future. The bases are not there foe us or to protect us. They are there to secure political power and natural resources for multi national corporations.

This country that we call the U.S.A. is based on genocide and ethnic cleansing. White Anglo Saxon Protestants believing in Manifest Destiny believed that God gave us this land and we had to kill off the heathen savages and send them to hell so we could take it over. Our history is filled with slaughter, deceit, broken treaties, genocide, treachery, shame.

Looks like it is time to crack a history book. Under your locgic, since we have a military base in Gunatanamo, we must be ruling Cuba.

We couldn't get cigars, rum or labor out of Cuba. So much for your notions on Imperialism/. Russia called the shots in Cuba.

Imperialism? You mean like how Islam has spread through war all these years, taking countries and forcing language and religion on others and or forcing taxes on them?

Imperialism like how foreigners tried to take Afghanistan and turn it into an Islamic "paradise" where women are forced to wear carpets from head to toe, forced marriages, forbidden to be educated, beaten if they break any of the laws that were forced on them?

Or like how Islamists want to divide the Philippines to have their own nation and kidnap, murder and rape innocents to achieve that end?

Or how they invaded a Christian nation like Lebanon which welcomed them with open arms and who are converting it into an Islamic state?

First of all those nations all allow us to be there and can at any time tell us to leave.

The reason many keep these bases is the economic boon it brings to them...how is that imperialsim

Why aren't the Japanese turning into Terrorists on us?

Why aren't the Koreans?

Filipinos?

Hawaiians?

Please tell us what natural resources we are stealing from Japan, Korea or the Philippines through our bases??
