Just a ?
Hopefully this makes sence but I understand Pastors go thru a lot... But when someone inthe church is going through something does it put a burden on the pastor? Also what's the average length in time after someone backsides are they forgotten about... My guess is a month.

There are good pastors and there are not-so-great pastors. Good pastors share the burdens of the congregation, they feel the pain when the saints are going through troubles, and are truly distressed when people leave the church (not to be confused with people simply attending a new church elsewhere). Growing up in a pastor's home, I know that my parents never forgot about people who backslid. They were always on their minds and hearts. Not-so-great pastors are those who aren't really "people persons" (pardon the grammar), and either don't really care that much what is going on in the lives of others, OR they don't know how to convey it if they do. |

Re: Just a ?
I that my father, who is the pastor of our church, has not forgetten the people who have come, whether they have ever prayed through or not. I do not know how often that I have heard him call their names before God in prayer.
If you are going to this church and have been hurt before, take it to the pastor and do not worry about being an extra burden. If he is a true man of God, he will endevour to aid you. However, it is incumbent upon you to place yourself under his authority and be in submission to him. This is the case as long as he preaches and teaches the full council of God. |
Re: Just a ?
one thing is for sure you never find a perfect church. and you never really find one that has 100% IDENTICAL views as you do.
going to church at some time everyone becomes a wounded worshipper. it could be of what some one has said tword you, the preacher, the person sitting next to you, or it could be over doctrine thats being preached, and you dont agree with it. i would first suggest reconcile. and try to work with the pastor, even if he is the one who may have wounded you. He is human just like you. But if you feel you cant. Pray about it. ask the Lord what He wants you todo. Just remember the scripture states that if you have a problem with your brother leasve you gift at the alter and go make it right with them. |

I still miss his him. He was a good preacher in my eyes. He even preached a sermon called the wounded worshiper, and that is were i have gotten the term. the new preach was more modernized. I didnt like the long stories in the preaching, But this man would bend over backwards to help you. But the preaching was really effecting me. I wasnt under conviction it was just that there was so many stories in his sermons and many he used over and over and over and over and over, and many times he would wander off topic, and would talk about the old times. It was a odd feeling. There was times i would rathe r go to the nursery and watch the kids. since then that church has had 3 major splits. a evangeslist that was a member of the church who didnt get elected, started his own people left with him, another who was a bishop, took over another church and also people left with him. alot of the people i knew was Gone, and the church really didnt feel like church. it sounds like the former preacher was a daddy figure for you, as the first one was for me as well. and it is hard some times it truelly is. |
