Preacher Ann Coulter

Ann Coulter's new book "DEMONIC" is out and I think it makes some interesting observations... That crowds/mobs are very often wrong.

"Everything else changes, but mobs are always the same. A mob is an irrational, childlike, often violent organism that derives its energy from the group. Intoxicated by messianic goals, the promise of instant gratification, and adrenaline-pumping exhortations, mobs create mayhem, chaos, and destruction, leaving a smoldering heap of wreckage for their leaders to climb to power."

Chapter 1

The Liberal Mob

2 When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an impure spirit came from the tombs to meet him.
...

9 Then Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" "My name is Legion," he replied, "for we are many."

-- Mark 5:2--9

I like Ann Coulter and I generally agree with her on most issues, however, she does seem to leave some things a bit disjointed at times and I can't see how she reaches some of her conclusions.

I agree that the "Liberal Mob" is a danger to America, but I don't really see them as being demonically inspired. There are such things as bad ideas, poor thinking skills and even mental diseases that can be understood without resorting to "demonizing" one's political foes.

I agree - it's a stretch. And I'm a big AC fan.

I also like Ann Coulter. I understand the premise......of course one must always use the extreme to make a point.

Well, we always demonize those with whom we do not agree.

We need to remember that God is not a TEA Party member nor is He a socialist.

However, we are feed the hungry, heal the sick, house the homeless, clothe the naked, and visit those in prison (ref Matthew 25:31-46). Also notice how James defines "pure religion" in James 1:26-27. Some time read Ezekiel 16:49-50 and see what the real sin of Sodom is, greater than the sodomite sex. Some believe these things should be done through government welfare programs and socialized medicine like Medicare, Obamacare, and Medicaid so our tax money should go there. And, we are to live clean, moral lives also. That is also called out in James 1:26-27.

When the Apostle Paul was checked out by the Apostles, Bishops, and Elders at the HQ church in Jerusalem, not just doctrine was important, he was also to help the poor. Ref Galatians 2:1-10.

Some fundamentalists (funny mentalists) put down programs to help, train, and educate people who are not as well off as we and call it a "Social Gospel." Some of them may be as straight as a gun barrel doctrinally and at the same time be just as empty and cold. We need a balance of orthodoxy and compassion. I think the Gospel message we have been entrusted with is for the "whole" person. Too often we have just majored on the spirit but people also have a body and soul which need healing/salvation/deliverance. There was a saying I heard at the Vineyard that I may not be able to quote verbatim but it said something like "people don't care how much you know, they want to know how much you care."

Well, aside from the fact that I cannot stand loudmouth Coulter, what about the "consertive mob"? Any extreme mixed with a mod mentality is bad, Look at the Salem Witchcraft Trials as an example.

Just sayin

So... when we disagree here, are you "demonizing" me? http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...cons/icon9.gif

You are correct. Except about the Salem "mob" being "conservative." They were the same self righteous and pious dictators that they're descendants are today: The Northeastern Liberal Establishment.

I know that history provides so many exceptions to my "rule" that it is sad and frustrating; however, to be truly "conservative" means that one will reign in their passions and avoid becoming a part of any kind of a "mob."

To act "conservatively" means to act with restraint and much aforethought.

That's probably the whole idea behind it. But the danger here is that when you've started down the path of sensationalism and hucksterism you will have to keep outdoing yourself until what you are doing is no longer even "yourself."
