Shorts

I don't get it, I just don't get it!! I've been raised in this thing called UPCI, and am a very proud member to this day (22 years old). Okay, so why can't I wear shorts, well let me rephrase....why is it looked down upon when I wear them. What's the justification (scripture, etc.). Women can now where their skirts clear up to their knees, with their legs showing (and no panty-hose). Why can't I wear shorts, when I'm out running and excercising, or when I'm just out in general. It doesn't make sense!

We've let out guard down on so much already, why not just go the extra step farther and ourlaw the shorts rule.

Ok, just to disclaimer....I'm not bitter, I'm not mad, and I wear shorts! k:thumbsup

UP, you bring up some good points. From some of your other posts I know you go to a quite conservative church. There are some UPCers who do wear shorts. Generally I don't think non shorts policies are pushed much anymore except for those in leadership positions.

Do you need permission? If it is practical, then it is good taste! Shorts in the hot summer time is very practical, so wear modest shorts and be blessed. Paul said he would not be judged by any man, this may be out of context, I have to look and see? LOL

Re: Shorts

This is something I have come around to myself. It seems the dress/skirt length is getting shorter, to the knees and some just above the knees, even on platform workers. So yeah, I like wear my shorts, which now days is down to just above my knees. I really don't see the difference.

How short and still say we are "modest"?

Re: Shorts

To keep with the teachings of your church, why not opt for skorts or the skirts where the tights are really cute underneath them?

Just a suggestion. However, wearing shorts is NOT wrong as long as they are a modest length and compliment your figure. I just dont know how you will be seen in the eyes of the church you attend, and you sound really young. :)

Re: Shorts

I believe to the knees is a modest length, especially considering what I see most running around in today.

Of course I have seen some blue jeans so tight they were less modest than most shorts. And I could throw some blouses in there too.

Re: Shorts

That is something I have never understood myself, I am a Pastor, and I have preached some really good sermons in a pair of shorts, on the platform, with my organist backing me up in a pair. I am so glad to be independent Apostolic, not stuck under some rules and regulations factory!
