Where did the Honeysuckle go?!
Last night my godbrother was here and he told me something interesting about Sis. Marietta Wolfe/Webster. Perhaps some of you who knew her well can elaborate on this....I am sharing my memory of his memory.
Reg said that Sis. W used to teach about life when she was younger...walking down the street and smelling the sweetness of the Honeysuckle, and the warmth and comfort she felt from the pleasantness of the trees. Then one day she walked by and someone had marked off where they were going to cut down the trees. The reason they gave was, "It's progress...the trees gotta go to make room for new homes or stores or whatever!!" Finally the day came that the trees were gone and there was nothing there but emptiness. What happens to a life or a church when, in the name of progress, we have cut the sweetness of prayer and heartfelt worship and things spiritual to make room for other 'things'?! I may not be expressing this as clearly as it struck me last night when Reg said it, but I am asking myself this morning, can I still smell the Honeysuckle?! |

Wonder where I can get one...they would be on cassette, correct, as she probably spoke during the day sessions?! At one time I had all the NMMC concert LPs but must have worn them out or something...I would love to get my hands on those and put them on CD...anyone?! |
She spoke about "Saving the Honeysuckle" at NMMC in in 91 or 92. There was a picture of her on the cover of the cassette, hugging the huneysuckle...

Re: Where did the Honeysuckle go?!
I heard her speak at General Conference to the Minister's wives on Don't tear down the Honeysuckle. Awesome! She was supposed to come to our ladies conference, but that was when she moved to Ohio.

That would be nice, Margie, but I don't want to keep your tape. If you send it to me, one of my brothers can put it on a CD...I'll then send you the cassette and a CD. Thanks in advance... |
