True Worship

I've been watching ihop's 24/7 prayer and worship. Is that what God wants from us? Can worship be a work of the flesh? I'm wondering if God wants worship in a temple or that his children would do good works in the community? What do you think God wants us to do?

Both. I believe our worship and praise should be in the form of music and shout, in silence and reverence, and in good works based upon the work Christ has done in us. worship and praise are both verbs, and they should be considered so in the life of the believer.

A study of events which took place during the famed Azuza Street Revival of the early 20th Century, reveals that many "messages in tongues" and their accompanying interpretations were realized. One in particular, which contained a prophetic connotation regarding "worship," went something like this --

As the time of the end draws near, more emphasis would be placed upon worship than upon righteousness.

Are we witnessing the fulfillment of this prophecy in our day?

John 4: 23,24

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Jesus was still on earth at the time he had this conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well. Pentecost had not yet come. Jesus not only told HER how the Father desires to be worshipped, but it tells us today how to worship the Father. IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH! We must have received the Holy Spirit/Ghost in order to worship the Father as He desires to be worshipped.

We will never please the Father if we have not received the Holy Ghost! We can't worship Him in Spirit and in Truth unless we have the Spirit of the Father.

If you keep watching IHOP you will see that they place great emphasis on doing good works in the community and good works period. They have outreaches for many things going on. :thumbsup

Jesus went about doing good and we should do so too. But just doing good works
alone won't save us.
After we receive the Holy Ghost/Spirit, we should become His witnesses. Witnesses
of HIS MAJESTY!

True Worship. Spirit and in Truth. It simply means it is from the heart (inner man) and without pretension.

i'm just questioning this radical devotion. I can see a mega church doing this, because you have enough members to rotate. I can even see this being done in different languages. I just think we need a balance with outreach, good works and worship, especially for smaller churches.

ihop believes in the holy spirit and speaking in tongues. I would like to see an apostolic church take on 24/7 prayer and worship.
