Revealed or taught?

I hear lots of people saying stuff like " God revealed His oneness to me," or "the revelation of Jesus name baptism," or revealing some other thing, but it seems to me that we're exposed to these "revelations" in church, or taught in Bible studies, and when we finally understand it, it's a "revelation."
I remember when I was having trouble in geometry for a long time, than one day it just "clicked" and I got it, was that a revelation?
So does God still reveal things, or is everything learned?

Re: Revealed or taught?

I know an evangelist that group up in a trinitarian COGIC church, believed oneness her whole life and never knew that there was actually a church somewhere that taught what she believed until she talked to me and another minister from our church. She converted and got baptized in Jesus Name on the spot.

A revelation or realization of what God's word says

We have this topic in another thread with a lot of discussion on it. If I knew the title I would link it.

Luke 10:22
All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

What do you think that means TG?

Is it a theological comprehension, or a revelation of Christ to the inner man?

"Revelation" as it applies to God's activity is a supernatural imparting of knowledge and/or understanding to an individual. This does not mean that this same knowledge/understanding cannot be taught by one individual (once known) to another- it can.

A good example of this is the teaching of the Apostle Paul. The "mystery" of the Gospel was revealed to him by God himself, but he was able to teach this mystery to others- they didn't need direct revelation in order to receive it and comprehend it.

A century ago, a few people were said to have received the revelation of the "mighty God in Christ". This revelation was taught to others. Today, God can still choose to impart this revelation directly to individuals, but the information contained in the revelation can and most often does get imparted through teaching. :)
