Cracklins, Do You Eatum, and How?
Anyone here eat those nasty things?
I like them! They certainly aren't like the homemade ones we had as a kid, but I still enjoy them. Anyone make a dish using them? I have only had them as treats. |

They are fantastic. I had them homemade and never had any from a market.

Are we all talking about fried pork skins?

Yes, but with some fat attached to one side.

Cracklins are wonderful, fried up fresh and equally wonderful cooked in a pone of cornbread! Yum! :thumbsup |

Loved 'em as a kid, on the days when we would kill a hog or two we would fry them up in lard in a huge pot over an open fire. Boy, they were good. :thumbsup
Speaking of recipes, my mom used to make "cracklin cornbread" by mixing them into the batter, but she'd cut off the hard rinds first. |

You can serve them with biscuits, cornbread, or grits. I don't care much for them.
