Why not operate debt free? Sell off some Gov Land!
Seeing that the Government likely holds more land than the rest of the country combined, I think they should sell off some of it to get the country totally out of debt.
The Feds own over 30% of all US property, but that does not include state ownership of parks etc. How about selling off a few hundred million acres? This would generate cash in more ways than one. |
Re: Why not operate debt free?
The Feds are actually buying land.

We could sell off 300 million acres and still have over half left over. Granted, some is simply desert, but not all or even most. Some is very valuable. |
Re: Why not operate debt free?
At the same time the EPA needs to be reined in. Overall they hurt the economy and stifle growth and innovation.

Re: Why not operate debt free?
Selling half of THIS won't pay our debt?
Nevada 84.5% Alaska 69.1% Utah 57.4% Oregon 53.1% Idaho 50.2% Arizona 48.1% California 45.3% Wyoming 42.3% New Mexico 41.8% Colorado 36.6% |
Re: Why not operate debt free?
I would like about 500 acres in Oregon I think.

Re: Why not operate debt free? Sell off some Gov L
I would hate to see the government sell off our national treasures such as the land that we hold collectively for all to enjoy.
Nevertheless, I would like see our nation operate debt free. We can do it if we would determine not to spend any more money than we take in each year. Seems simple enough for me but it appears that the brainiacs in Washington can't quite grasp this novel idea. Send me to Washington, I could have our nation debt free in about one or two years...maximum. That would be without selling land, gold or anything else. |

But yeah, eliminate the IRS, EPA and the Dept of Education for starters. Lets see what that gets us. |

A lot of the land in Utah is also park land, and etc. Don't think you would want to live on what is left. Pretty harsh and arid. There was a reason the mormons sold that land to the gov in the first place. LOL
