that being said, my house is built to the latest hurricane standards
with metal window covers, and a metal roof tied down to the foundation

people whose houses are not equipped should evacuate

Soon after hitting the NC shore, the eye wall collapsed and the sustained winds went down to around 38 mph. You can click on this interactive map (link below) and see what the current wind readings are for the given location. This ain't no hurricane no more. As with any storm bearing a lot of rain, flooding will be the main concern... that and thrill seekers who just want to go and "check something out."

Thankfully... Pel is right.

We still have tornado warnings popping up, but the wind threat has greatly dwindled.

One tornado touched down about 40 miles south of me, destroying one home and damaging 14 others.

Other tornadoes have been dancing around us.

Rain is pounding, too. Flash floods in our area. Our beaches are messed up.

Two children have died in separate incidents - one car accident, the other a fallen tree. So sad.

I was in Disney World a few years back when Hurricane Charley rolled through. It was wild in our hotel! Lobby was packed. Big hurricane party. lol
