Work from Home

Has anyone done any legit work from home programs? Or know of any?

Seems most of the ones I have looked at seem to be scams, or MLM that they don't tell you up front.

Most want up front money "investments". Seems to me you should not have to pay to make money if it isn't a MLM or sales business.

Any suggestions?

If you have a PhD, you can teach online programs in your field, particularly MBA programs

The only other thing I know is Avon, Mary Kay, but I don't know how much money you really make selling that stuff.

Live Ops

These are legit. I worked for the first one for awhile and had friends working for the other.

Do you prefer one over the other?

I never actually worked for Live Ops so I can't say.

I do know that West does not have work at home agents in all states so that would be the first thing to check into from their website. I'd probably still work for them on the side but they no longer have agents in WI. I really enjoyed it. I handled orders for Home Shopping Network, Pro Flowers, and Sears.

Re: Work from Home

Like any regular job, the first rule of thumb is not to pay any money up front to get a work at home job. If they ask for money up front then most often it is a scam.

You can also look at the Work at home portals such as http://workathomejobsblog.net which compiles work at home job opportunities from various sources.

Esther, most work from home ads in newspapers and on the Internet are nothing but scams. If you’re serious about pursuing a career from home, you should be prepared to spend some time and money getting trained for it, just like you would for any other career. Legit work-at-home options do exist in a variety of fields including healthcare, which is such a booming industry right now. Some of the work-at-home opportunities in this sector include medical transcription and medical coding and billing. But you need to build your skill set for these fields with formal training. Schools like Career Step offer online vocational training in these fields that you can check out if you’re interested in starting a home business.
