Jacob's Ladder Rant Thread - Libs, Con, Etc.

First Rant:

I’ve congregated with both, liberal and ultra-conservative congregations, and I’m not ashamed to label myself a conservative. Please take into consideration that I’m not a rancid conservative, I believe in exhorting rather than commanding. I believe God must perform the sovereign transformation in someone’s life and not our commanding. I’ve seen saints chased out of churches by either “established” saints or pastors. Who needs the Devil when you have these types of people?

Well, back to what originally I was going to post. I’ve been to many conferences and have heard the same theme echo throughout Pentecost.

Examples:

(1) Charging the Gates of Hell
(2) Great Expectations
(3) Whatever it Takes

I’ve also heard same phrase after phrase.

Examples:
(1) If we could only unite
(2) If we would only get closer to God
(3) Revival is on the way

I’ve thought to myself, my God, all these years and these guys are still, “what if,” or “if we only could,” or “revival is on the way someday.” What in God’s name has prevented the saints from uniting, drawing closer to God, or having “revival?” Excitedly the crowds yell in agreement after hearing those phrases, and yet they do nothing after the fact. I keep hearing the same tune but nobody wants to sing the song. You might as well shut up and sit down. People don’t need to be entertained, they need to be edified. If all you can do is entertain, go join a circus. Shut up and start acting on your words like the few scarce of us!

Second Rant:

To my liberal brethren, you’re still my brother and sister in Christ. I would to God some of you would boldly stand according to your belief. Example; I don’t believe having a mustache is a sin, never. However, I know a local leader who asked their youth to shave their mustache off due to a section meeting. I ask that you stand firm and strong, don’t waiver on your belief because of others. Don’t fulfill the role of a hypocrite, especially if you’re a leader. If something is good enough to practice hidden, you ought to be bold enough to practice it openly.

To my conservative brethren, you’re still my brother and sister in Christ. I would to God that you allow Him to be the final authority in your life. While attending your services all I ever heard was sleeve and hair length, and how all the liberals are going to hell. Try preaching on evangelism, how to reach those female’s cutting their hair, or those men wearing shorts. Preach on the gifts of the Spirit, utilizing them for the building and edification of the church, for the perfecting of the saints. Not once have I seen a gift of the spirit operate in any conservative service, and I’ve been to many.

Third Rant:

Conservative and Liberal Pastors.

On an off note, there’s something about conservatives and gifts of the Spirit.

I remember the conservative church I attended four years ago. The pastor is a good man and we still talk from time to time. I remember he began encouraging me to allow the gifts to operate through me. I never once usurped myself above him, even submitted myself. I remember God speaking to me about a man seeking the Holy Ghost. I told the pastor because I figured it would be respectful to have the pastor tell him rather than I, I didn’t want to go above the pastor. The pastor laughed at me and said, “if God wanted to tell me something, He would tell me himself.” Well I felt stupid! I then walked out and told the congregant myself, the congregant did exactly what was spoken to him and bam, he received the Holy Ghost. I remember the pastor then telling me God never goes through the “congregant, ”only through pastors. I then told him, God overlooked Eli the Priest and spoke directly to a young Samuel himself. Well, that ended the conversation.

Don’t misunderstand me, a pastor must guard the congregation against those donkey-butt wannabes. Many people can get hurt if some speak “thus saith the Lord” and the Lord really isn’t saying!

Get off your pinnacle and help those entrusted to you. Your calling is to SERVE, not to rule with an iron fist!

Remember, the five fold consist of five roles, not ONE!

Guess you haven't been to many conservative churches cause that doesn't sound like the churches I've been a part of.

I'm sorry you have had a bad experience but a true conservative church has balance and seasons for all that you have accused us of preaching and not preaching...

I've attended meetings in Palmdale, Ventura, Thousand Oaks, Santa Paula, Camp Meeting @ Fair Grounds, and nothing.

What gifts have you witnessed?

Well, I guess I attended services within the "3 year season" of preaching hair length, longs sleeves and liberals going to hell. Don't know if that season extended to four years and beyond.

Those are meetings where you may hear this but in regular home services it's rare to hear holiness preaching all the time... We have the gifts of the sprit operating in our services but like I said there is seasons for everthing... I would never be a part of a church that is not or doesn't have the potential to be "revival minded"

Fourth Rant:

Why do you insist on telling me about the multiple weeks you fast? Does that make you holier than I?

OK, I said it, you're super spiritual! Now go raise the dead, open blinded eyes, heal the sick, etc.

All hot air and no action makes Jack a dull boy! Yes, I fast! But I don't feel the need to tell you the length of my fast(s).

That's between the Lord and I. What does telling you accomplish for me? Absolutely nothing. I'll give you advice, I have no problem with that.

We don't fast to be seen of men, hypocrite! No wonder you can't break through your circumstance!

Perhaps they tell you or others that it might be known that men still do extended fasts? Those who fasted long in scripture must have told someone or it would never have made it into the Bible.

Yet if every time they fast they call attention to it they probably are just hypocrites seeking mens praise. And no I dont tell anyone Im fasting unless there is a reason to do so. And no I have never fasted for weeks at a time.
