9/11 Tower Two Evacuation<<<
 

I am currently watching a program on MSNBC commemorating the attacks on the World trade Center towers one and two.

Several survivors stated that many people who tried to evacuate before tower two was struck were ordered back to their floors. Security guards stopped their elevator descents, and told them their tower was safe, then ordered them to return to their offices.

In fact, survivors say that the elevators were actually programmed to refuse descent. An announcement came over the building's intercom from the port authority ordering everyone back to their offices.

Now I have never been a conspiracy theorist, but I find this very, very odd. I have never heard of such a thing. Why would they care if people left?

i have never heard that, not even from people who got out.
i just watched a few hours of it on the history channel and nothing like that was mentioned.

better believe if i wanted out of that building words to go back to the office wouldnt stop me, so i dont think that to be true, however elevators do stop working during a fire in most cases.

To avoid stampeding, which often kills more people than the emergency in these cases of localized (which we now know was not) fires in buildings.

I've always read literature and watched specials on 9/11 because I find it interesting (even though I was eight years old when it happened). Obviously, no one knew that there was another plane coming. The emergency responders who were focused on reaching those in the first tower feared that a mass stampede out of the second tower would impede their rescue efforts and crowd the area completely. From what I can gather, the goal was to keep the area around WTC calm and clear to allow the rescue crews to do their jobs.

Of course, we now know that tragedy struck twice when the second tower was hit as well.

This account is 100% true and I have heard this repeated on several occasions.

We have THREE 9/11 survivors who attend our church and all THREE plainly state that they were told over the PA system that everything is alright and to return to their offices. They were told that there was nothing wrong.

The elevators in Tower 2 were operational until the 2nd plane hit. Some people were trying to use the elevators to get down, but most people who were trying to get out of Tower 2 before the 2nd plane hit were in the stairwell when the 2nd plane hit.

It's one thing not to order evacuation -- that was a judgement call that is unfortunate in hindsight, but understandable (I suppose). But it's a whole different matter to stop people from leaving.

I don't believe they could have stopped me from leaving the building, short of tying me down or shooting me.

The safety protocol for the buildings were to stay in your office unless your floor was on fire and you HAD to leave and wait for the intercom service to give them directions. I heard on one of the shows I watched that the plane hitting the building knocked out the intercom service in one builiding. Because of this and not being able to see the floors that were hit some people stayed in their offices until some safety people came and told them to leave. I know you were watching about the 2nd building and I thought the show I watched was about that building too, but it might have been the other one.

I got into the '9/11 truth' stuff a few years ago and it really opened my eyes to a lot of things. Mainly, how much our own government is so corrupted. I still to this day think there was something particularly "fishy" about the whole incident. I don't believe it was purely just a small group of Arabs solely responsible. I strongly feel they had some help from one or more people from within our own government. And, the possibility that we knew all along, and just let it happen, so we could go to war in Iraq, etc.

My problem with believing this is the company you put yourself in, when you do believe it.
