stoning and flogging

Recently a iranian actress was sentanced to 90 lashes. I find this interesting because as christians we are forgiven.
However, if that became law here would crime go down? I wonder if it may be a good thing. Our society is so accepting of all kinds of evil what would happen if we had stoning and flogging?
Would crime really drop?

Interesting? :blink Forgiven? :blink So, if you broke the law, you would not be punished? Since you're a Christian?

:blink :blink :blink

Of non-Christians, of course.

No idea.

I find those types of punishments to be "cruel and unusual", but I do believe that people who break the law should be held accountable and punished when necessary.

Huh? I'm not sure what it has to do with them being Christian or *us* being forgiven. If a Christian shoplifts, they should have to reap the consequences the same as a non-Christian.

i wrote this because a iranian actress is going to get 90 lashes for doing an anti- government movie.
I am just curious as to what you all think.

Isn't a lashing better than six months of prison time? lol

they give you the lashes over several days or weeks while in prison other wise you just pass out which they dont want.they also lash women differently then men and i suspect it doesnt work, probably a bunch of then over there with backs like leather they been whiipped so much.

My husband tells me that when he had to do business in Iran (think it was Iran, it was some Muslim country anyway) he could leave his watch on his desk w/o fear of it being stolen, people do not like having their hands cut off.

I think losing body parts is a definite crime deterrent.

I'm just glad that God changed His mind about ordering folks to carry out cruel and unusual punishment. Stoning folks to death for picking up sticks on the sabbath is a little much.
