Those Crazy Baptists

I ran into a girl at the grocery store passing out tracts. She had long long hair, no makeup or jewelry and she wore a dress. I commented about it and she said something about not advertizing their standards...anyways this is what they believe

We believe that the King James Bible is the Holy preserved, and perfect Word of God.
We believe that God is the Creator of the Universe. (Genesis 1; John 1:1-3)
We believe in the Deity or Jesus Christ, and the God exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (1 John 5:7)
We believe that all men are sinners and by nature corrupt. (Romans 3:23)
We believe that God sent His Son to die a sacrificial death to pay for our sin.
(Romans 6:23; John 3:16; Romans 5:8)
We believe that Redemption from sin and forgiveness for sin are available through belief
in Jesus Christ. (1 John 1:9; John 1:12)
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith alone.
(Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 16:31; Titus 3:5)
We believe that through belief in Jesus Christ we are saved from death, Hell and the grave, and we are given a new nature (Romans 5:9; 2 Corinthians 5:17)

We believe that the real answer for today’s troubles can be found through studying the Bible, trusting in God’s goodness, and obeying His New Testament commandments.(2 Timothy 2:15; Proverbs 3:5-6; Psalm 119:9)
The Baptists are the only sect of Christian Churches that have never been affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. We are not, and never have been Protestants.

There have always been Baptist Churches. We were founded by Christ, planted by the apostles, and preserved by the grace of God.
We have had many names throughout the centuries. We were called Waldenses, Lollards, Paulicans and Separatists. Finally the Catholic Church settled on calling us Anabaptists, which was later shortened to Baptist.

We have those Baptists around here. They are called either Holy Baptists or Bible Baptists. They dress like Pentecostals, are very active in door to door evangelism (basically told me I was going to hell at my door!), and they pass out tracts in all the shopping center lots. They are not well liked in our area.

Bible Methodists are similar in appearance. One of my favorite gospel groups, The Collingsworth Family, is Bible Methodist...
