The Main Focus Of Acts.2 ?

I love to read The Book Of Acts and to see how the Christian church began.

But this is a simplistic question but what was the main focus of Peter's wonderful Christian sermon in Acts. 2 ?

What was The Holy Spirit trying to communicate on that glorious Day Of Pentecost ?

He wanted to get everyone drunk, but not like you think . . .

Peter's sermon can be divided into 3 parts.
First he explained what happened (2:14-21)
Then he explained why it happened (2:21-28)
Finally he gave the proof from Scripture of all this (2:27-36)

We might summarize it in a sentence. The signs came from the Holy Spirit; the Holy Spirit's empowering came through Jesus; Jesus could baptize those disciples in the Holy Spirit because He is Lord and Christ.

It is my understanding that the Holy Spirit was poured out on the early church on the Jewish feast day of Sha vu 'ot or Pentecost which would have been Sunday May 28 in AD 30. There were over 500 believers who had seen Jesus after He rose from the dead (reference 1 Corinthians 15:6). About 1/4 of the Church (about 120 of the more than 500 believers per Acts 1:15) received the empowering in the Spirit or the baptism in the Spirit that Jesus had previously promised them in Acts 1:1-9

Scott, perhaps it might have been this............

"Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvelously: for I will work a work in your days which ye will not believe, though it be told you. (Habakkuk 1:5)

Just saying..., after all, God did promise to do a "new thing"!

"Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them." (Isaiah 42:9)

It seems to me that The Death,Burial,Resurrection of Jesus Christ was the main focus of Peter's message at Pentecost. The Holy Ghost gave the disciples power to testify about the reality of a risen Lord, isn't that one of the purposes of receiving The Power Of The Holy Ghost ?

In my opinion I think we get so caught in what happened on the day of Pentecost, that we forget what Peter's message really was all about.

Yeah, Peter explained how they were in sin and Jesus shed his blood for the remission of their sins.

We turn from the world toward Jesus in Repentance

We are buried with him in baptism so that our body of sin can be destroyed

And the whole purpose of God remitting our sin is that we can become a habitation of God through his Spirit

The purpose of The Holy Ghost is so that we can become his child. If any man have not the Spirit he is none of his.

As Holy Ghost filled children of God, we take up his purpose to seek and save that which was lost.

To the Jews at Pentecost Acts 2:38 meant finding release from their sins through Jesus Christ The Messiah and faith in Him.

We place our faith in Christ at repentance, and then get buried with The Lord in his Name,as a expression of our faith in Him and receive The Baptism of The Holy Ghost by faith, and then we live a lifestyle of sanctification to express our gratitude for what grace has done in our life.

The main focus of the chapter is actually found in verses 37-38 when they ask what they must do to be saved and the command is given.

Re: The Main Focus Of Acts.2 ?

The main focus, was to tell it like it happened and how it should happen now.
How the church was born.
How the Holy Ghost came.
How men were convicted.
How people were saved.

Just like every other "Chapters" in the Bible, there is more then just one main point.
