Should Christians Hate?
Trust that you have prolly been "protected" from a complete understanding of Hate for an insidious reason...
Hate is a difficult subject for many of us, as it has become confused with sin, at least in the western world. Hate is not a sin, although it plays into the hands of a confused theology to portray it as such. God hated Esau before he was born, and there is no scriptural support for hate being a sin, the poor translation of Paul's definition notwithstanding. If there's someone you despise or another person is mean to you, it can be easy in the wash of feelings that occur to label these feelings as hate, when hate is often a "covering" emotion, similar and related to anger. Good can be made from hating bad behavior, and even hating a person committed to evil; but as we will see, the most effective way to hate is counter-intuitive, and doesn't involve negative behavior. It is important to have a mature, developed sense of hate in order to properly love... Re: Should Christians Hate?
HA! I have a closely related hate...of couches! Don't own one, and will not live in a house that has one!
Ok, I prolly should have kept that to myself, lol. See that we both hate what they have come to represent, actually. We have "personified" our hate-- a good opening, ty. |
Re: Should Christians Hate?
I hate foul smelling odors.

Re: Should Christians Hate?
Well, I have neither television or couch in my apartment. The only items there are books, bookshelves, books, a bed, books, chairs, books, a computer that does not operate, and I might need to mention books. These are my primary furnishings. I do not hate people, but I have a severe dislike to some of them. I think of a particular group from Topeka whenever I type that.
I hate all sin and the works of the devil. Beyond that, I choose to either love or be indiferrent. |

I also hate mediocrity. This is the main (if not only reason) I cannot stand nearly all Christian "music" or Christian "writing" or Christian "movies". Just as democrats can always count on having the black vote, Christians can always count on putting out any old swill and knowing that their constituency will eat it up regardless of the quality.

I hate the sin of sexual abuse and it can be very difficult to not hate the abusers. Still, with GOD, all things are possible.
