"Thank you, God, that I am just like other men." Merton, I think. I wouldn't want everyone to agree with me here, and even appreciate the echtoplasmolog, those guys that predict the future, although I see how a perspective shift when reading a post can be helpful, as it is easy to see where you disagree, clouding your vision where you might agree if you let it. This extends to missing messages from people sent to you with one because you are turned off by them in some way; they stink, or whatever. Perspective shifting messages.

Re: Faith vs. Common Sense
Ya I think you should even be able to present your eschatology in such a way as to edify, and I mean I should be able to record a...change in the reader's countenance on their pc camera, or otherwise what is the point?

Re: Faith vs. Common Sense
I think I feel you Matt. The name of this message board is just a tiny bit deceptive. When I found it I was thinking it was going to be kind of like my church family only online where people could be honest and say what they really think without fear of retribution or loss of reputation. And it WAS... just not in the way I thought...
As it turns out, if you get a buncha Apostolics together and give them liberty to have an opinion you will quickly find that they are as diverse as any other bunch of people. No longer forced into a cookie cutter mold and with some degree of anonymity they speak to each subject from a vast wealth of bible knowledge and personal conviction. At first I kind of hated it... now I think I like it. The main points I find different from my church family is that there is real honesty here... the second is that folks here, on the average, probably score about 20 points higher on the IQ scale then the aforementioned group. Sometimes that is a little disconcerting as I have spent many years dumbing everything down to the lowest common denominator and have definitely lost my edge. Hang out a bit. Deep down these folks care for one another and share at a level that few of us do IRL. It's kinda refreshing actually... |

Amen!
my point was you should be able to disagree even and allow how the other pov has validity in some aspect, if you but will. |
