JFK Was No Fool!

This is just too good not to share!

Cuban smoke anyone?

"President John F Kennedy ordered an aide to buy him as many Cuban cigars as he could just hours before he authorised the U.S. trade embargo - which subsequently made them illegal.
Kennedy asked his head of press and fellow cigar smoker Pierre Salinger to obtain '1,000 Petit Upmanns' on February 6, 1962, so he could have them in his hands before they were deemed contraband.
Then, seconds after he was told the next morning that 1,200 of Cuba's finest export had been bought for him, he signed the decree to ban all of the communist state's products from the U.S."

I have been hoping for a long time they would end the stupid embargo. I spent some time in Key West and Miami w a lot of good Cuban folks. The best that I can figure is that the 'US' still has something to hide from the past that could be 'un-raveled' with Americans coming and going freely.
Cuba has no problem with Americans, we are very welcome there. Our government prohibits us from going. Nice to live in the 'land of the free' huh? Maybe someday we will be free. Don't get me wrong, I love my country....but some of our 'supposed' freedoms are a myth.
If you want to see Havana, you can go through Mexico or Canada. p.s. You can get all the Cuban cigars in Canada too.

Ah, there's still an embargo? Wow, I thought they had that cleared up? Hmm, I've been to Cuba several times. So beautiful. Great people.

And, "JFK was no fool," ya satan does not abide idiots in his employ.

I would support the embargo if others would back us in it. However, I do not believe that we should be traveling to Cuba as long as Cubans must sneak out of their nation to come here.

When I lived in Fort Lauderdale, I made some cuban friends. They are some of the nicest people.

You have a point about our "freedoms" that most people have not researched.

Cubans are way cool.

"One's freedoms or lack thereof arise solely from their perceptions."

I remember any number of stories that have come from refugees fleeing from Cuba. When we catch them, we send them back. Those who we do not catch can apply for status as refugees. Or have all of you forgotten Elian Gonzalez?

Ya, that was Janet el-Nino who sent him back. Now had Elian been a 30 year old drug dealer she would have welcomed him with open arms (as long as he voted democrat).
