Back In The Seniors Center After A Two Week Abscence
We had service in the Seniors Center after a 2 week abscence.
We had our last service three weeks ago. What happened was we normally have our service in the great room just off the lobby downstairs. There are Sofas, high backed chairs, a fireplace, and a baby grand to play on. It worked for 7 months, then a lady who was visiting some other ladies in the center reacted when we smiled at them and gretted ourselves. They reacted and got angry. We just stated we were just greeting them and no invitation was given. On the following Monday my Pastor got a call stating that we were not to come back and that complaints were made. Pastor stated that it was only a few that complained, and he stated why they were making a complaint. He asked the co ordinator to look up the attendance sheet to show that people were coming and to check with them if they would like us to come back. When he had told me that this was what was happening-I laughed. He seemed puzzled. I explained that my next lesson was on God is in control. We got back in but we change venues. We are on the 5Th floor rec room. We had service today after a two week abscence because it was booked the last two weeks. We explained to the residences who while not particularly happy this had taken place, were glad we were back. One of the gentlemaen even said that not all of the seats were occupied yet so that means that they were going to see if they can bring some more people here. They then thanked us for persevering! God Is Good!:hanky :woohoo :happydance Yes I did speak on God is in control today!:thumbsup |
I was Social Service Director for a Nursing Home/Sub-Acute unit for 5 years. It always did the residents so much good to have someone come in and sing church songs, familiar hymns, and preach a hell fire and brimstone message. This is what many of them cut their teeth on, so to speak.
Thank-you for doing this...they are blessed and you are blessed. Rhoni |
