I think many African nations are like this. Those who cant afford modern medical help will try most anything to find relief. Africa is in terrible shape all around. I thought it was going to discuss Preachers who pray for the sick in Jesus name.

looks like "faith healers" is used in a generic sense in that article lumping together "Christian" prayer for the sick and any other methods used by local shamans, witches, etc.

My Former Pastor had a ministry to the nation of Liberia for some years. He visited there and being a Black man himself did much research on Christianity in Africa. He was very disturbed by what he found and felt there was not much there in the way of pure Christianity.

Lest anyone should be offended by that he taught the same thing was true in America.

There are issues in Africa when it comes to melding Christianity with other things, but I can assure you that there is quite a bit of pure Christianity (in Liberia for sure) :). Now I'm curious as to who your pastor was, though.

His name was Ed Peagler. He was in Dayton Ohio and pastored the "Apostolic Dynamics" home Church. I learned a lot from him. He died a few years back. He would fill up shipping containers with donations and have them sent to Liberia. As I recall I think he said it was the worse place on Earth.

I would be interested in knowing more about the pure Christianity in Liberia. Or anywhere for that matter.

Where else can they turn to if they don't hear the gospel?

We minister a LOT in Kenya. There are a lot of true Christians. However, there are a lot of Christians who are very wishy-washy and will just go along with anything that is taught. Especially if you offer them something materially.
There is also a lot of spiritism and ancestor worship mixed in with Christianity in some areas. But we have a lot of good solid men of God there who preach truth.
