California vacation

Planning another visit with my daughter who lives in Las Vegas in June. This time instead of checking out parts of Vegas, Sedona, the Grand Canyon, etc, we are going to California. Los Angeles, Disneyland, PCH, San Francisco, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Topopah are some of the places I'd like to visit. San Francisco and Yosemite are definites. We plan on sightseeing and hiking.

Are there other places that you all might recommend?

What, are you going for, a month? Most of what you mention is not quick and easy drive by stuff.

Drive the cost through Ventura, Santa Barbara, hit pismo.

Beaches in Ventura are good. Ventura and CI harbors are nice.

Solvang is a destination too just before you turn due north 101

You could always hit the chumash casino

When you say "in June" are you referring to almost a year from now?

If you are going to see the Redwoods Humbolt county is beautiful. No vacation to Los Angeles is complete without Disneyland, the beaches and the canyons. SF do Fisherman's Warf, eat lobster on the water, take the ferry to Alcaltraz and photograph the Sea Lions. If you get far enough south the San Diego zoo is one of the best zoos in the world.

Be warned however there are some freaky people in Cali (said with kindness from a native)... A couple of years ago while I was in SF I was innocently eating lunch at the Warf when the 'Naked Bike Ride' came through. Of course I'm completely unoffended by nudity and grabbed my camera phone to get some pics of the men with pink ribbons tied around their penises so I could prove I saw what I saw to the docs at work... But my poor daughter in law almost died of embarrassment. The whole parade was led by a fully nude man (except knee and elbow pads) on roller blades... They were right in front of us for five minutes until the light changed... very gross fat folks too... and no one got arrested. NOT something one would ever see in Houston.

All the smoke shops take some getting used to as do the white kids with dreds.

Chumash...that's funny. Solving is cool, might as well stop and try some wine at Fess Parker's too.

Probably 10 days. A night in Vegas, LA, SF, and Yosemite. Not sure what else she has in mind.
