Modesty, 2 inches below the butt cheek?
Growing up, my sister was raised "pentecostal'. She did not attend anywhere for many years, then while in her late 20's she joined the AOG, and has been for the past 15 years or so, every since. She's deffinatley die hard aog, and is very involved.
My mother and her were recently at a public place, and they noticed a lady in shorts with the edge of her butt cheeks peeking out. My mother commented to her on it being so short, and my sister replied "well, those are probably a little short, but I think it is perfectly fine(as a Christian woman) if her shorts are worn 2" below the butt cheek. To which my mother said "thats not modest". My sister said "well, we just have two different ideas of modesty"... Obviously. I am kinda surprised at the butt cheek being the line to her. Is this a common "line" in the AG(:D) or is it simply personal conviction/preference? |

Now regarding AG teachings of modesty. You will find within the Trinitarian Pentecostal churches that there are wide ranges of difference regarding Lifestyle Holiness within the organizations, and everyone isn't expected to feel the same like you might see in Oneness Pentecostal org's. For example, right here in Nashville, I can take you to an AG church where 75% of the women still don't cut their hair, don't wear pants, and you'd think you were in a UPC church for the most part. And then right up the street, there's another AG church that runs 4000 people, holds rodeo's in their sanctuary, people attend church in tank tops and shorts, and their members would never think anything about having short shorts on. The AG's are very autonomous churches, therefore, there is a wide range of diversity among them, and they are fine with that. The COG has that same diversity, though there's more discussion and even controversy within that org about it. You'll see more of them criticizing each other calling each other legalists and the other's compromisers or emergents. But neither in the AG or COG, there isn't any effort for modesty to mean the same across the entire organization, it really is down to the individual church, unlike what I've seen in most Oneness org's. Sidenote: The small Oneness org I'm a part of has less than a hundred churches, but we are extremely diverse and it works for us. We have some churches that the skirts are always to the ankle, no hair cutting, the men never wear shorts and no man would ever wear a tank top.... and then we have other churches in our fellowship that if you walked in you'd think you were in a baptist church by appearance. And it works for us. |

I don't think it has anything to do with the AOG.

My personal opinion is: Showing your butt or cleavage is not modest. And for some the knees are not that attractive either............. :girlnails.

i had some neighbors that always wore their pants half way down like that. My cats would sit and watch them threw the window. I have always wondered what my cats thought about it. :heeheehee :happydance Do you wonder what animals think about us when we act stupid :highfive Theywould just watch those clowns for hours when they were outside with their pants hanging half way down their butts. :laffatu :spit :thumbsup
