Here is a link to a news article claiming that analysis shows that the Mormon church receives 7 Billion dollars a year in tithe income from members!

Can you imagine if the UPC had that amount to spend on Missions and local churches????

No...bigger churches and salaries since many of the pastors believe the tithe belongs to them.

I don't contribute to the UPC so in some ways it is none of my business how the money is spent, unless it is squandered so badly on salaries and perks for elite officials that hardly anything trickles down to those who are actually in the field trying to save souls. Then perhaps their sloppy finances should be checked and their tax exempt status rescinded.

IMO, tax exempt status for churches and church organizations is government support for and establishment of religion.
