Gifts of the Spirit
 

What different gifts of the Spirit have you been used in and to what capacity. Do you feel that all Holy Ghost filled people have one or more of the gifts of the Spirit? Feel free to give examples.

They should have the gifts operating. They come part and parcel of the Holy Ghost. If they don't then something's amiss.

Paul's teaching on the gifts seemed to me to be taking for granted that believers would and did have the gifts operating. They've been given to edify the the body.

This is part of my issue with what I consider imbalanced teaching regarding what the baptism of the Holy Ghost is for. It's not for salvation per se. It's a part of our salvation. It's given for empowerment for ministry just as it was given to the 120 "disciples" who were in the Upper Room waiting for an enduement of power.

Too many people think that tongues = salvation and once they speak in tongues sit back on their hineys waiting for Jesus to come. :D

1 Cor 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

My gift is teaching. (Scary, isn't it? :lol)

1 Cor 12:29-31 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
