Rare and Unique Bibles

I'm a collector of rare and unique Bibles. I collect Bibles based on antiquity, and if they have unique features not often found in other Bibles.

One of the strangest finds I came across was a green-letter bible. This is not to be confused with the modern Green Letter Bible which focuses on passages in scripture that deal solely with creation. Rather, this Bible has the words of Christ in green instead of red. The reason for a green letter edition is so that people who are color blind can see the words of Christ without any trouble.

Has anyone else found strange and unique Bibles with interesting qualities to them?

I love to collect what I call 'old and weird' bibles. The ones I find in thrift stores with tons of notes in the margins and a lifetime of love worn into them and translations no one has ever heard of... Here is one you may not have seen.

A decade or more ago I found this unusual bible on the internet. The website is gone now but I was able to find it in the wayback machine... Anyway I'll let you look at it for yourself. I know someone who got a copy recently by doing exactly what I did years ago... which was mail them a check and wait... but there are also some copies now on Amazon.

I'm not sure how rare it is, but I have a Bible purchased for me by my parents during a Holy Land tour back in the 70's that has an olive wood cover front and back.

Mine looks similiar to this except my Bible has a cross engraved into the front cover.

Hmm, Reminds me of a "Companion Bible,"
which I've only seen once, available @
"Shepherd's Chapel," I think it's $100 tho;
wonder if they're related?

I found an "NIV-Prophetic Edition," NT,
in Israel, quite interesting--out of print now,
rights owned by some lady in TX.

Ah, no. I've just forgotten her/lost the link; I got in touch with her thru the IBS, which had prior rights. She still has them, these "Prophetic" NT NIVs; think ESL with all OT fulfilled prophecy highlighted, for Jews.
