Cutting Hair Shameful?
"A teacher in southern Egypt punished two 12-year-old schoolgirls for not wearing the Muslim headscarf by cutting their hair, the father of one girl said on Wednesday."
Is this a similar cultural context as when Paul wrote Cor. 11? 6 For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012...ir-schoolgirls |

I think it may be similar.

Ever get the feeling if this was 1935 the group getting spotlighted would be Jews instead of Muslims?

Re: Cutting Hair Shameful?
In America, if the teacher did such a thing, teacher would probably lose job.

Re: Cutting Hair Shameful?
If my head was shaved, I would want a covering. Like Michael said, it is a shame to be shaved. They shaved the heads of foreign women, if a Jew married one.
If I lost my hair due to cancer or sickness, I would buy a wig. I love long hair. Once in my 20;s or 30's, I had been sick a long time. My hair got brittle and broke off. I promise the Lord if He would cause my hair to grow, I wouldn't cut it. It grew almost to my waist. Since then, my daughter and other people have tried to get me to cut my hair. I won't. because when you make a PROMISE TO GOD, you keep it. Otherwise, since I am older and my hair is coming out, and getting thin, if it wasn't for the promise, I would probably trim my hair. |
