New York City Storm

So how much of NYC is actually without power? Large part? Small part? Is life going on as usual for some part of people there?

large part, almost a million with no power about half have been restored some will be at least 10 days without power 48 deaths in ny state which was hit hardest long island especially 41 deaths in ny city no subway service.it is a mess i saw one pic in jersey where the entire town is under 4 feet of sand, street signs are at your hips, 100 homes in queens part of ny, in the breezy point section, burned to the ground.i would imagine upstate and western ny are ok. almost 2 million in the state wo power

If half of the million have been restored in a city of 8 million overall That equals to around 7% of the people without power 93% with power. Wonder why there is not a very large rescue effort coming forth from among the 93%? What an opportunity for "community organizers".

What an opportunity for Churches to hit the streets and go do whatever they can do.

agreed, in addition long island always feels like they get less than manhattan and then you have people in jersey in the beach side communities who are probably being thought of as the dreaded 1 percenters. so i wonder how much help they will get.one lady was trying to drive out of the mess and her suv dropped into a hole she grabbed her two small children and rushed over to a large house and started pounding on the door for someone to let her in ,she could see a man inside, he wouldnt open his door and a wall of water came through swept her two young children from her .When interviewed he denied seeing her and said guess she shouldnt have been out eh? cops were livid and wanted to arrest him but couldnt.
