This Election Reminds Me
My FIL was a forman at a manufacturing plant in Memphis in the early 70's when the employees went on strike for better pay. They had formed a union and wanted the upper management and ownership to take less money and give it to them.
Management tried their best to convey to the workers that upper management was paid at a level required to keep them from bolting to another company for more money. There was no money to give them the raises they wanted! The workers continued to strike. Finally, the company told the employees that if they didn't return to work soon, NOBODY would even have a job because the factory would be out of business and closed. The workers continued to strike anyways. Guess what? The fool workers were out of jobs when the company was forced to close! They each had a job, but they voted themselves out of a job! Our country may have voted itself into a deeper recession! I sure hope not! |
Re: This Election Reminds Me
Almost as scary as the economic situation is the thought that Joe Biden is once again a heartbeat away from the Presidency and we have to live with that thought for four more years!
The exit polling from this election clearly proved that Blacks and Hispanics did not vote on the issues. They strictly voted for a man based on the color of his skin. |

But your last statement is false and will be proven so. Obama has done nothing and his agenda will do nothing for my economic interest. Wait and see. |
Re: This Election Reminds Me
Although there are indeed many blacks and Latinos that voted for Obama, many of them (a segment) voted because of one single issue which had nothing to do with the economy!
To hispanics, it was mostly the self-deportation quote. To blacks, it was revenge to the white rich guys by voting for a black man. (I love the video when the black lady was asked at the polls which race was she most most focused on, and she answered, "black!" At least she was honest!) I could be wrong, but it will be interesting to see the turnout of these minority segments when two white guys are running for president again. The numbers that don't show up will tell the story. I could be wrong, and maybe the issues are which party gives them the most toys. I could be wrong about that too! Hey, I could be wrong about everything! :icecream |
