Reading the Bible
 

Many times I've read the Bible with my view towards changing lives, saving the world, helping others.

Yet I find my own life is still in need of fixing.

How is it that I've come to this point in my walk with God, and still find that when I'm tired I snap at people, or am unkind to someone who is precious to me. Sometimes I'm impatient with people I work with. There are times when I am definitely not walking in Love towards others.

Love towards others is the most important concept in the Bible, and yet I find it's an area in which to my shame I'm lacking.

Ephesians 4:
walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love. . .

put off your old self, walk in love

John 15:
If you love me keep my commandments . . . This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

Luke 6:
Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you . . .

1 John 3
By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has this world’s good and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? . . . let us not love in word or talk but in deed and truth.

The scriptures are numerous that show us how we ought to walk and live in this world. What if we are able to defend our doctrines to perfection, but don’t have love? are we nothing?

Yes we are nothing without love. Yet lets be sure our definition of love is the same as Gods. Its not always just about being nice.

We will never reach perfection until we obtain immortality... yet we strive to allow the life of Christ within us to perfect us as only He can. As long as we live in a fleshly body, we will be dealing with our sinful nature, each and every day. We must not be discouraged if we fail, but be thankful at least that the Lord can still speak to our hearts, correct us, and help us redirect our course, and continue on. If we are producing fruits of the spirit in our daily walk with Christ, that is what we should strive for, never losing sight of Christ each day.

We really are nothing without love. Any works that we may produce, if they are not done in love, are not pleasing to God. So indeed, love producing fruits of the spirit should be our focus each and every day.
