my evening

Been trying to learn to sing with a little indian lady...what a difficult language. She is the first indian my son baptized in Jesus Name...There were bats flying around, the water was greenish and dirty, the food beyond describing...however it was for her and for thousands of out of the way villages that Jesus also came to save.
In her language God is called Tupan....she taught me quite a few words...her little grand daughter ever so shy keep looking at me and smiling. I wondered why God''s messageners have been so long in coming? I wiped a tear from my eye...took her hand in mine and told her as simple as I could how I was so sorry that her people are just now having an opportunity to learn about Tupan.
Would you pause whatever you are doing and pray for an Indian tribe in the forest of Brazil? Thank you. Sis. Janice Alvear

Does her tribe have a translation of the Bible that they can read?

Just watched William Carey's story last night on a DVD. It was very touching and heartbreaking all at the same time. He believed God sent him to India to preach, when instead he realized after he got there that God had sent him there to translate the Bible into translations the India people could read for themselves. The power of the written word is life changing indeed!

I know you've mentioned translations of the Bible before. I will be praying that a translation of the Bible is available for these sweet people who probably know nothing of a loving God. Praise God that you are there for them now!

I know a lady who was a missionary near Ghana? (I hope I got that location correct)

The tribe she was assigned to was so remote that they did not even have an alphabet. So she created an alphabet and started putting that alphabet to words. I forgot how many books she translated for them before she left the area. It was a painfully long process.

I sure miss her. She had many interesting things to talk about. She was Baptist.

Re: my evening

yes, the Bible soceity not long ago translated the Bible into her language. She can neither read or write but we gave her and a part of her family Bibles as some of them do read....Brazil has many tribes of indians....and many do not have a Bible ...I can buy bibles for these people if I have funds.

I have deep respect for Bible translators...if others laugh at them and say they are not saved that is their business....I would never open my mouth against anyone that is doing anything for God...Yes, I might believe and do things different than some however the Judge of the earth will weigh and consider all things on that day...
