NEWTOWN, Connecticut (Reuters) - At least 27 people, including children, were killed on Friday when at least one shooter opened fire at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, CBS News reported, citing unnamed officials.

The shooter, the father of a student there, was also killed, CBS News reported. The principal and school psychologist were among the dead, CNN said.

Prayers for all the families.

Unimaginable... I just can't comprehend how a human being could kill innocent children. these poor families and this happening right before Christmas! I will be spending time in prayer today for those involved with this terrible tragedy.

I already hear people talking about gun control...

When will anyone begin to ask... what about God, when we took God out of the schools... this is the result that we have gotten... school shootings!

No, instead every school will no doubt in the future be locked down, security people running up and down the halls, and no attempt whatsoever to allow God back into the schools, and back into the hearts of people!

What a sad, sad day for America... and no doubt many many more to come. This is a terrible price to pay for taking God out of our schools.

How many on this forum remember saying the Lord's prayer every morning with the announcements in public school?

I remember doing it in grade school, after that, the Lord's prayer was taken out.

I heard someone compare today that as 911 changed things forever for airport security, today is the "911" that will forever change school security ....

My heart was so heavy at work today. I feel something terrible and drastic happening in this nation. A man in North Texas was found carving a demonic symbol into the back of his six year old child two days ago. There is a spiritual war going on...
