It was hate and anger
I said in anther thread the root of these killings is hate and anger. We try to dismiss them as mental illnesses and while in certain cases mental illness played a role the root of them are still hate and anger.
Here is a recent news item regarding Lanza's motive NEWTOWN, Conn. – The gunman who slaughtered 20 children and six adults at a Connecticut elementary school may have snapped because his mother was planning to commit him to a psychiatric facility, according to a lifelong resident of the area who was familiar with the killer’s family and several of the victims’ families. Adam Lanza, 20, targeted Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown after killing his mother early Friday because he believed she loved the school “more than she loved him,” said Joshua Flashman, 25, who grew up not far from where the shooting took place. Flashman, a U.S. Marine, is the son of a pastor at an area church where many of the victims' families worship.... “From what I've been told, Adam was aware of her petitioning the court for conservatorship and (her) plans to have him committed," Flashman told FoxNews.com. "Adam was apparently very upset about this. He thought she just wanted to send him away. From what I understand, he was really, really angry. I think this could have been it, what set him off.” Can you see how he might have acted out of anger and hate? Our world is getting more violent and there are more acts of violence being done and they are done out of hate and anger. |
Re: It was hate and anger
Prax,
I read somewhere that the shooter's mother did not have a connection to the school. Still, I agree with your general point about hate and anger being the drive behind the recent violence. |

Re: It was hate and anger
I believe the guy that shot up the movie theater was acting on hate and anger too, despite having mental issues.
There are thousands and thousands of people with mental disorders that do go on a shooting rampage |

They (Big Pharma, physicians and nurse practitioners) get people on psychotropic drugs and tell them that they cannot live a normal life without these drugs. They tell the public ...having mental illness such as depression, schizophrenia and bipolar is nothing to be ashamed about. Step forward for help if you have these symptoms....then proceed to list them. It is estimated that 10-20% of Americans are on psychotropic drugs now. Big Pharma pushes these drugs. They make Billions $$$$. Then somebody who is full of hate and anger commits atrocious acts of murder and the news media reports that the killer has 'mental illness' giving people the impression that all who truly suffer from mental illness are half-crazed lunatics that go out and indescriminately attack people. Now why would anybody want to step up for help when those who commit crimes are being labeled mentally ill by the media? It is known that Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI) drugs have induced adverse reactions, even psychosis in some people, yet the FDA does nothing to take these potentially dangerous medications off the market? On December 15, 2010, PLoS Medicine released a study which showed that, in regard to prescription medications and violence, the FDA had received the most reports of violence from the SSRI & SNRI antidepressants (except for Chantix, the smoking cessation drug.) The study listed Prozac as the number 2 drug for violence, and Paxil as number 3. http://ssristories.com Interesting website. Stories about what happens to some people prescribed SSRI medications...destroyed lives are in this website. |
Re: It was hate and anger
It may be that someone that is mentally ill is less able to handle their hate and anger but where did the get the idea to go on a mass murder rampage?

One word describes it to me -- Demonic!

Re: It was hate and anger
I heard on the new today that the brains of some people are different. They just do not have the capacity to feel like most people do. And if this young man was not under the care of a Psychiatrist, more than likely he wasn't on any drugs for mental illness. It will not be until the toxicology from his autopsy comes back that they will they know for sure.

They are more full of hurt from life circumstances or if there is truly a chemical imbalance, they shrivel up into themselves and cry, verbal outbursts or go catatonic. There are those who suffer from paranoid schizophrenia, but even then, those people in the past rarely attack others with such premeditated purpose. Now, I would be more apt to believe that people who are on illegal substances such as bath salts, crystal meth, LSD and other substances including prescribed SSRIs that do cause hallucinations have altered minds and caused violence . I do believe that toxic excitotoxin substances that are allowed and put into our food supply (ie: aspartame, monosodium glutamate (msg), red dye, yellow dye and other chemicals) help to create mental confusion and angst. What are excitotoxins? Excitotoxicity is the pathological process by which nerve cells are damaged and killed by excessive stimulation by neurotransmitters such as glutamate and similar substances. This occurs when receptors for the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate (glutamate receptors) such as the NMDA receptor and AMPA receptor are overactivated. Excitotoxins like NMDA and kainic acid which bind to these receptors, as well as pathologically high levels of glutamate, can cause excitotoxicity by allowing high levels of calcium ions (Ca) to enter the cell. Ca influx into cells activates a number of enzymes, including phospholipases, endonucleases, and proteases such as calpain. These enzymes go on to damage cell structures such as components of the cytoskeleton, membrane, and DNA. Eat asian foods? They put loads of MSG in it for flavor. MSG is a flavor enhancer. Accent ...found in the spice section...main ingredient is MSG. Actually, most processed foods have MSG and aspartame in them. http://ssristories.com There most likely are many reasons for such violence in our country today. Hate and anger being one of them. But I also think that the things we ingest in our country have a lot to do with it too. |

Passing gun control legislation is like punishing all Americans for the actions of some. Congress must think that they are daddy's and mommies. Because little Johnny did such a henious crime, we are going to take everybody's Constitutional right of gun ownership away. They don't look for real solutions. Just bandaids. A man full of anger and hate can very well take a tree branch and do the same damage to some poor soul. |
