How many Times Does Paul Mention Hades?

Believe it or not the Apostle Paul who wrote most of the New Testament mentions Hades (Hell) exactly ONE TIME!

You will have to do your homework even to find that. Neither the KJV or most other versions have it at all. You will find it in the New King James Version and Interlinears.

YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE WHO IS PRESENTLY THERE!

So who is there presently?

The dead in Christ!

Prove it?

Paul writing about the resurrection says:

1 Cor. 15:54-55

54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death where is your sting? O HADES where is your victory?

Yes the apostle taught that it is only at the resurrection we will have the victory over Hades. There is a false teaching called "immortal soul" that says when the Christian dies he goes straight into Heaven and he has victory over death and Hades.

Paul did not teach this. He told the Corinthians at the resurrection of the dead THEN they would have the victory over death and Hades.

Now you know the true meaning of Jesus words:

18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. Matt. 16:18

Hades will not be able to hold the saints who have died AT THE RESURRECTION!

It is then Paul testifies we will have the victory over it.

i think your interpretation is a stretch. i don't see the significance of this doctrine. what does it matter if the dead are awake or asleep? your insistence on this doctrine as truth put you into the fanatical camp.

Hades simply refers to the grave, not place of torture

Is this the resurrection that you're talking about?

Mat 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
Mat 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
Mat 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

That particular event causes much consternation to many.

Yep, I guess they were raised to go back to hades.

It says they went where? Into the holy city. Not to Heaven.

We know they did not continue as Paul (knowing more than us of the matter) later tells us who has immortality.

15Which in his times he shall shew , who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings , and Lord of lords ; 16Who only hath immortality dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen , nor can see : to whom be honour and power everlasting.

What do you believe happened to the folks in the first resurrection? Did they die a second time? Along with Lazarus maybe. And the folks Jesus and the Apostles raised from the dead?
