Any electricians in the house? outlet question
Trying to change my outlets to newer ones for decor reasons. I changed out one outlet that bottom outlet is switched control while top is not but with new one in the switch wouldn't work, would just stay on. Put old one back in and switch to bottom outlet worked fine. Is there special outlets for switch controlled?
Thanks. |

Not an electrician, but we had this happen one time. When comparing the old plug with the new one, we saw that there were some tabs that needed to be broken (for lack of a better term) off. Look online also to verify my info. The following video shows it.

Gotta break tabs off. Then wire bottom plug to switch circuit.
