The Salvation Equation
Heard a sermon yesterday on Romans 6:1-3. The preacher came up with an equation that made a lot of sense to me.
F = faith G = grace W = works S = salvation F + W = S + G (Legalism/3 step) F + G = S + W (one step) F + G = S - W (Antinomianism/ heresy) I have found that people who take extreme positions, usually put those they disagree with in the opposite extreme position. If you don't believe in 3 steps and standards, you believe in Antinomianism. If you believe that grace covers everything now and in the future without any works needed, you believe everyone who disagrees is wrapped up in legalism. I've never seen this explained so clearly! |
