Why Do We Kick Our Own When They Are Down?
 

Why do we kick our wounded brothers and sisters, when they are self inflicted wounds? Preachers and saints that sin, it's like we are in the Coliseum in Rome. And we are the crowd sitting up high, and cheering on the fight.

Every little comment we make (kick). Call it what you will, gossip, discussion. Do we really want to see restoration, or are we intent on getting our little kicks on them as they lay on the ground?

To be honest with y'all, I have had a hard time staying on the forum lately. Because I wonder how I would be treated by some if I have a sin in my life, and someone found out and posted it here. And I also wonder if I have participated in a blood bath of others. If I have I pray that God forgives me.

Oh I know the juicy threads that get a lot of attention about moral failures come from fear most likely. Fear that there is a part of me that wonders if I have failed.

Maybe we all should remember, there but for the Grace of God, go I.

Well, if you were a preacher and it came to light that you were running a Texas brothel -which would be pubic knowledge from the press, wouldn't it be fair game to talk about it here?

Good post. The problem lies in the question you raise, "why do we kick OUR OWN?". The kickers do not claim the one they are kicking to be their own. This is justified by the guy on the grounds actions. Its a shame.

To be fair, public knowledge is just that. But, we seem to get ahead of ourselves here sometimes. We don't wait until it is public knowledge, or outside of four walls. And we take sides, some for, some against. Of course we do that pretty much on every topic.

But, when souls are at stake we should be very careful how we treat each other. Some seem to not want to see anyone restored, and others want restoration after a certain length of time, or right away. Who decides? Certainly not us, that are not in the situation. We are not infallible. So, until God restores them, let us treat each other kindly. And pray that we don't fall and get kicked ourselves.

ThaT it true & it just goes to show why web sitres such as TMZ get such traffic. TMZ doesn't broadcast dirt on saint or preacher per se but just the fact that there is a appetite for gossip among celebreties shows that the need for gossip panders to our lower man.
If we truly try to strive to be anove gossip, we have to overcome our lower nature.

Often, the people that seems to be getting kicked are the same ones that presented themselves in a prideful way-- by their sermon contents or by their actions, or both.

Still, I don't really like talking about preachers or Christians in general that fail-- even if it seems justifiable. Remember Saul.

There is a way to discuss failures, even with names mentioned, without crossing the line, but too often on here, the lines are crossed by sentence # 3 on a subject.
