What are your thoughts on this quote???

"God is not anger though He can be angry, God is not vengeance though He does avenge. These are attributes, love is essence. Therefore, God is unchangeably love. In judgment He is love, in wrath He is love, in vengeance He is love - love first, and last, and without end. Love is simply the strongest thing in the universe, the most awful, the most inexorable, while the most tender." ~ Thomas Allin, Christ Triumphant
What are some of the theological implications of this thought???

1 John 4:8
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

1 John 4:16
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

It seems as tho love is an attribute. God is the sum total of them all. The greatest is love.

If I say that something "loves", or "can love", love is an attribute. However, if I say that something "is" love... I'm defining its essence.

But that text doesn't say that our God "is fire". And, by the way, that's metaphorical. So is love.

What does He consume? Dross? Chaff? Evil, wickedness? "God is a refiners fire" the fire has a purpose, and that is to burn up all that is evil. God created all humans, and that is not evil, evil has attached its self to humans. The chaff is burned up, and the wheat is harvested, the dross is burned up and the gold is recovered.

This concept is scriptural from Genesis to the Rev. LOVE NEVER, EVER FAILS!!

hmm, but both can be taken literally, too...what is love a metaphor for?

I'd like to renew my (apparently unsupported) call for new software here, that can 'tag' someone for a response? I have...$35, more than 10% of the cost, ty.
