Old Chorus "Prayer is the key to Heaven..."

Great old chorus, "Prayer is the Key to Heaven, But Faith Unlocks the Door". I got a zoom video recorder and am having a blast with it - as you can probably tell.

These old songs, I learned this at ABI in the '70's, are missing in most of our churches today - a sore spot to many I suppose. Hope you enjoy it.

First time I heard the song was on an album by Teep and Wendy Wicker.

Neat! I can only remember it sung at ABI; I think Wendell Gleason is the only one I ever heard sing it. Very good meaning.

Jake Hess sang it.

Wow. I thought that would be unheard of; it's actually fairly common at YouTube. My bad! I've got another oldie I'll try sometime that's not at YouTube.

I enjoy new songs and they are essential - but keeping the old is important, I think.

Never heard this song before! Thanks for playing and singing it for us! Looking forward to some more old songs with words that speak truth. Awesome!

I was very surprised but there are several professional renditions of that chorus on YouTube. I couldn't find one with Jake Hess singing, as Cindy mentioned above, but there are several other groups and soloists available singing it.

It's a great chorus, isn't it? I hadn't thought about that chorus in quite some time but couldn't get it off my mind yesterday. Very good words; very good thought.

And I'm glad you enjoyed it. While David said, 'Sing a new song unto the Lord', Paul also said, '...continue in the things that you have learned...'. I like the old choruses, too.

Have you ever heard the chorus or song, Praise is the power of heaven?

I was reminded of this chorus as you played Praise is the key to heaven.

The lyrics are (I think):

Praise is the power of heaven
Praise is the power of heaven
Praise is the power that opens the door
To the king, the king of kings.

The powers of darkness shall flee
When I praise and I magnify Thee
Praise is the power that opens the door
To the king, the king of kings.

It has a very sweet melody to it, easy to sing and worship to as you pray.

Would like to hear some more "golden oldies" you may know :)

I don't know this song, I'm sad to say. I've searched for it online and did find the words but not the melody and not any video of it being sung. If you can find a location where it's sung I'd be happy to listen to it - great words.

We'll try to keep the 'golden oldies' coming... :)
