School assembly with guys in skirts!

My son texted me today a picture of their Friday assembly. He told me that there were guys in skirts with girls putting makeup on the guys!

Because of all the buzz in the news recently about schools using various means and methods of inserting transgender and homosexual roles into the schools in an effort to make it seem "normal", when I received this text, I assumed that this was happening at my children's school. (I think MTD had posted an article earlier about a school pushing lesbianism.)

It upset me so badly, that I immediately jumped in my car, and headed over to the school. I was hoping to get there in time to get in on the assembly and see what was taking place myself. I didn't make it in time. By the time I got there, the kids were all out on lunch.

So, I walked into the office, and asked the secretary if she could explain to me what the assembly had been about. She told me that because prom was coming up, they were trying to teach the kids that there were other ways to have fun, besides getting drunk, and doing drugs on prom night. Sounded innocent enough.

So then, I asked her why the guys were wearing skirts, and makeup. She looked at me in shock, and said she knew nothing about that. I told her I had received a text from my son, with a picture showing this. She was shocked, and immediately called up the person responsible for putting together the assembly.

This teacher and I had an impromptu visit behind closed doors, and I explained to her my concerns. She tried to ease my concern, by saying that it was all done "in fun". They were trying to show the kids that there were other ways to have fun instead of getting drunk, and doing dope... and this was their example of how to have fun....

I was shocked, and I did let her know exactly how I feel. She, in turn, did not understand the fact that I did not think it was funny. She quickly brushed aside my concerns, and said it was all done in fun, and she really felt no harm was done.

I'm still in shock about this, and the thoughts of the teacher that it is "just a joke".... essentially insinuating with this "joke" that instead of getting drunk or doped up, just go dress up like the opposite sex to have fun????

How would you have responded had you learned this happened at your child's school?

I would take my concerns to the school board.

Welllllll....... there is a difference in pushing a gay agenda (which this school MAY be doing anyways) and having guys dress in drag for laughs. It sounds like this may be the latter.

Right. My h.s. had something called Power Puff, Powder Puff, whatev... Guys on the football team would dress as cheerleaders. Cheerleaders dressed in football gear and played football.

I wish you could have made it to the actual assembly, just so you can know for sure the context of the pictures you saw.

I'm thinking it was done in fun, not pushing the gay agenda at all.

In which state did this happen?

If you say Montana or Wyoming... :laffatu and then... :throwrock !

Re: School assembly with guys in skirts!

Well, after talking with both my children tonight, who were both present at the assembly, and then of course after I shared with them my conversation with the teacher who did say that it was simply done in fun, I did get a clearer understanding of what took place.

I don't believe there was an outright message or agenda that was trying to be pushed, other than simply "go have fun, do something else other than drugs or alcohol".

However, knowing the way the TV and media are pushing this "gender blurring", it bothered me that this message came after a talk on ... "go do something fun... don't do drugs and alcohol" and then they finished their presentation using the skit with the boys in dresses and makeup ...

Of course, my kids told me that the whole gym was resounding in laughter after the skit, and I'm sure there was humor to the sitaution, yet.... something about the principle of it all just bothers me.

It is the underlying message that was being promoted that really upset me.

After rethinking it and talking about it with my kids, there is probably not much more that I can do about this, because the dominant message to kids in the assembly was not to drink or do drugs. They were not actively pushing the gay or transgender agenda per se.

However, it is to me just a sign of how easily our minds can become conditioned to certain agendas and sin (in this case transgender activities) when it becomes commonplace to us. When such things come to us in the form of laughter, humor, and silliness... does it condition our minds to think that it is somehow okay?

Just pondering....

Oh, and by the way, the state is Idaho.

I'd say this kind of goofing off has been done for decades. Seems like everyone is a bit sensitive these days in light some of the other recent incidents (which I do have a big problem with if they are being reported accurately).

Here ya go KBTW, watch this. Here's our annual high school "show ". It's called "big man on campus". One of our church family's sons even competed. ugh. A year later, my pastor finally mentioned "over the pulpit" the ignorance of guys dressing up like girls at our hs. We homeschool so it really doesn't effect us. But makes me ashamed if our pathetic good ol hometown of 13,000 people. These guys in this are sons of many "successful local doctors etc" so proud of their young men.
They all make me vomit.

Idaho has great homeschooling laws, take advantage of them.
