People Don't Go To Hell Becuase Of Sin...
"People don't go to hell because of sin. People go to hell because they reject Jesus, but when you make a decision to sin, there are always consequences in the natural for your decision to sin.
Sin will not unravel your righteousness you have by faith, but it will unravel your life." I found this statement interesting. I've quoted the preacher verbatim. What do you guys think about this? Do you agree, disagree, want to qualify this? |
Re: People Don't Go To Hell Becuase Of Sin...
Highly disagree with that statment. Please show me anywhere in scripture where the judgment is described where a person is said to judged on anything except his works.
Ezekiel 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. 20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. 21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. 23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live? 24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. Let me hasten to add that though we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus we must remember that we must walk in accordance to His word: Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. |

Wondering what preacher made such a statement?

Re: People Don't Go To Hell Becuase Of Sin...
We go to be with the Lord because of
our works? I always thought we go to be with the Lord because of what He did on the cross. He did it all on the Cross and if we accept that and repent of our sins we will go to heaven. Works only comes as a RESULT of our salvation. |
Re: People Don't Go To Hell Becuase Of Sin...
Ok.
I understand these statements. So when the Bible says the mercy of the Lord endureth forever...? Could continued sin be the tell-tale sign of rejecting Jesus? The concept of the statement in question was the preacher chiding "church folks" for driving sinners away from the hope of salvation with their words, attitudes, and actions. Same preacher, same sermon-- "... Let the Holy Ghost work in their lives. GOD KNOWS how to get the [new] Christian out of the clubs..." |

Christ died for our sins, past, present and future sin. Repentance is the key. No true born again Christian WANTS to sin, but we all do by error. (I see it all the time happening on this forum.) |

Then why did Jesus say go and sin no more? |
