This is about major corporations trying to destroy the ma and pa internet businesses and using the federal government to do it. This is none of the federal government's business. This is corporatism or known in the old days as fascism... :thumbsdown

Why are Republicans doing this!? This is a tax increase. They might as well just pass Obama's budget, with its big tax increases. They definitely can't claim to be against raising taxes, because that's what this bill does! By voting on this bill, they've given Obama cover for his "fair share" policy and for his tax increases. Just wait until this hits the street. People are going to be furious when they load the virtual shopping cart and find out it will cost them an extra amount PLUS shipping. It will be devastating to small businesses and people who just wanted to get on pinterest or ebay and sell odds and ends, never wanting to get bogged down in the mess that comes with opening a brick and mortar store.

That's what it seems they want - to crush the small business.

I hope there is a different response in the House.

You see the hypocrisy, right? The Republicans trot the small business out when they're complaining about Obama's budget tax increases and healthcare issues, but now they're pushing this tax increase which will cause the same effect as Obama's increases. It will result in less online sales (who wants to pay for taxes AND shipping?) and it will result in online stores closing because people won't want to deal with the headache.

The hypocrisy is unbelievable, yet totally believable.

Unfortunately I have to agree. Not only will it cause the internet market to shrink it will cause an undue burden upon businesses that have to keep track of hundreds of municipalities.

No it's not. It's about Government collecting more taxes. Big corporations do as much business on the Internet as ma and pa

Sure I see it. It's the same with the CIPSA issue. Obama is claiming he will veto, while Republicans, mainly, voted for it. It's just a roller coaster ride with these two parties.
