I Die Daily

I have always heard the scripture in I Cor 15:31 where Paul said I die daily to be referring to him speaking about repentance. But unless I am missing that scripture I am not finding it. The verses preceding that one is talking about baptizing for the dead.

I am wondering if this is another "scripture" that doesn't exist, like "cleanlyness is next go Godliness" or "there will be stars in my crown". Just never have found those scriptures. Although I did find one "close" to the stars in your crown.

Does anyone know what scripture this teaching may have been referring to?

Some translations say "I face death daily."

I Cor 4:9

Rom 8:36

1Co 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

Yes that is the same scripture I quoted, however, he was not talking about repentance.

I am looking for the scripture I heard taught where Paul said I die daily talking about repentance.

Anyone know what scripture they were referring to?

Peopel would say it is inferred. What else could Paul mean by his dying daily? Since repentance equates to death in the death-burial-resurrection symbolism, they insert repentance into that verse.

I do not know for sure that Paul intended it that way.

He is not talking about repentance. I have never even heard anyone say that. He is talking about taking up the cross and denying himself daily for the cause of Christ.

that was it. They believe it means Paul was saying he died to self on a daily basis

Died to self in what way? Repentance? Sin?

Instead of listening to Rush Limbaugh he spent the time in prayer. Instead of eating on Saturday he fasted. Instead of going with some friends to play baseball he went and passed out tracts.

The things you deny self are not always going to be sinful in themselves. Its just if you don't deny yourself OTHER THINGS you wont have any time left for Christ.
