Asiana Flight Crash and FOX News...

Here's another feather in the cap of FOX News' reputation for being, at a minimum, racially insensitive.

Warning! This might make you laugh, but remember that people died as a result of this crash.

Im not sure this was meant to be a racial or ethnic joke on the reporters part, obviously it was on the part of the originator of the "joke". I think this is great commentary on the state of the news today, just blab what ever info you get and apologize later. Sloppy work in my opinion. MSNBC has been in hot water over the Martin-Zimmerman case lately, this time it was a FOX affiliate.

That's a pure case of... read it somewhere... wrote it down... reported it... didn't check anything. How ignorant can they get. Heads should roll on this one. Not because of racism because nobody is stupid enough to do that on purpose... but for wildly poor and sloppy journalism.

Oh please. You're really going to sit there and type that FoxNews did this purposefully with full intent?

This is stupid, and could happen with ANY local affiliate. Like D4T said, this was a case of someone didn't think it through before broadcasting it. The producer was lazy not to notice this; and I can't believe no one else followed up, though (again) this was a local affiliate and they likely rushed to put the names out there ahead of everyone else.

It's a sad and terrible prank, but that's all it is. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with FoxNews being insensitive or racist or whatever you're trying to imply.

I am just glad CNN is not racially bias. :)

"Appropriate actions will be taken to ensure that such a serious error is not repeated," the NTSB said in a statement.

Neither the station nor the NTSB commented on where the names originated.

Re: Asiana Flight Crash and FOX News...

It was a FOX affiliate that was given the names and before airing them they contacted the NTSB for confirmation, which was given by what has turned out to be an intern who is either incompetent or negligent.

You also were misleading in your thread / post when you make it sound like this was FOX News, the national Fox news channel. This was a local station, channel 2, and local newscasts.

It wasn't Fox news. It was an affiliate

They did not originate the "joke", it seems the were punked

An NTSB intern had confirmed the names for the station.

JD does not seem to be able to reason objectively

When I first saw the YouTube video yesterday of the names being read I really really wanted to hear a pause at the end of the 3rd name followed by the anchor going into a Moe-like rant "Why you little......! When I get my hands on you!!"
