I watched a couple episodes last night. Anyone ever been to a church like that or know someone personally who has? They not only danced and pranced around holding snakes, but they lit what looked like Molotov Cocktails and held them against their chest while the flame nearly burned their chin and face off.

I posted some youtube videos of a Jesus Name Pentecostal 'signs following' church service somewhere here awhile back. They did the 'fire handling' thing too.

The passage in mark 16 said nothing about handleing fire.

They don't limit themselves just to Mark 16.

Where does the bible talk about handleing fire. Unless they are twisting the passages about the baptism of fire or Isa. 43 where it speaks of going through the fire and not being burnt. Of course you would think someone might notice all the references to the pagan idol worshiping practice of causeing children to pass through the fire in the worship of molock and maybe chemosh (if i am not mistaken).

Honestly, I do not know where the fire handling thing comes from.

"1: A spiritual and literal belief in Mark 16: 15- 18 as a five fold ministry. This involves
literally picking up poisonous serpents, drinking strychnine on top of healing, speaking
in tongues & casting out demons as well as handling fire. (Dan 3:27/ Mark 16: 17,18/
Luke 28: 5/ Heb 11: 34). "

Re: Snake Salvation

Another instance of man trying to prove himself. We don't have to prove anything. Either God is with us or He isn't. And if He is, He will do the proving as long as we do what we are supposed to do. The greatest commandment that we have is “love one another.” I see no love in snake handling. That is another trick of the Devil to get the world to laugh at us.

I see no where in the Bible where any one deliberately picking up snakes or drinking poison. Do they think that they have more faith or power with God, than Jesus or the Apostles?

We see the same thing in churches where the worship team, gets up and tries to stir the saints up emotionally. They are trying to prove that God is still with them.

Maybe these people should "come out" and start a house church.

Possibly some did. A home church is no guarantee that they won't teach false doctrine.
