Remember All That Talk About a "Clean CR?"

In the 16-day gubment shutdown, we heard daily complaints from the Democrats for the House Republicans to vote on a "Clean CR." All they wanted was a CR that would pay to reopen the govt.

However when all was said and done, the CR was NOT clean, and included a massive kickback for McConnell.

Quote:

A proposal to end the government shutdown and avoid default orchestrated by Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and Democratic Leader Harry Reid includes a nearly $3 billion earmark for a Kentucky project.

Language in a draft of the McConnell-Reid deal (see page 13, section 123) provided to WFPL News shows a provision that increases funding for the massive Olmsted Dam Lock in Paducah, Ky., from $775 million to nearly $2.9 billion.
This is par for the course for Democrats. If they can't win the debate, they throw money around and bribe others in Congress for votes. This is how they passed bummercare. Bummercare would not have passed if it would not have been for backdoor deals and kickbacks to fence-sitters.

McConnell should be ashamed. Not only did he raise the white flag and surrender without any concessions from the Democrats, but he did it for the money.

$2.9 Billion dollars is what bought a Republican and helped pass the so-called clean CR.

Watch Karl Rove put money toward McConnell's reelection. They will do whatever to stop Matthew Bevin from taking McConnell's seat.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Chris Christie campaign for McConnell.

So all the GOPers were shutting down the Govt to cut spending and they signed off on a bill that increases it?

Not all the GOP. I'd say most of the GOP would have kept the govt going. It was mostly the strict fiscal conservative (aka tea party) one's who refused to pass the CR.

Remember, there are a lot of GOPers who were big spenders when Dubya was in office. I changed party affiliation to Independent after 2006, because too many Republicans were acting like Democrats and adding too much pork to the budget. Many of those are still in office, McConnell is one.

In late 2010 I changed back to Republican so I could vote in the primary races. Here in AZ you can't vote in the GOP primary if you're not a registered Republican.
