Internet Privacy, Attn: PO
if anyone here is concerned about tracking by websites, firefox has a new addon called "self-destructing cookies" that will destroy cookies after you leave page or if they try to track. "better privacy" is also an addon that destroys flash cookies not treated as regular cookies.
settings in firefox and better privacy should be examined closely. private browsing in firefox still stores cookies, so custom settings is preferable. schoolofprivacy.eu is a privacy blog that has lots of further info. under "projects" they provide a portable version of firefox with about 20 privacy addons installed and ready to go. it is an earlier version of firefox, so "self-destructing cookies" won't work, but all of their addons work for that version of firefox. just an option to consider. |
Re: Internet Privacy, Attn: PO
I added something that I think Prax recommended - BetterPrivacy 1.68.
I also have Avast, which on my toolbar, notifies me of who has been tracking me. I ordered a couple things on Amazon this morning and it showed that Google Adsense and Amazon Associates tracked me. With BetterPrivacy, when I clear my history, it logs me out of whatever website I am on that requires a password. I also clear my history after I do my on-line banking and I have tons of passwords. I never use the same one for any website I am on, and I change them periodically. Anyway, didn't Snowden say that it doesn't matter what you have on your computer, and that if they have your zip code or email address they can get into your computer regardless? |

Watched a video clip last night of Alex Jones interviewing John McAfee.... definitely worth watching if you have concerns about privacy! Apparently McAfee has designed some sort of device that will be available soon that basically creates a new "internet" that he says no government agency will be able to use.
