CoG and UPC share similar problems

The Church of God's Dr. Raymond Culpepper in his book "The Great Commission" states that "some pastors just want members to Pay up, Show up & Shut Up. As long as you do those things they are very happy. When you fail to achieve any one of the three they get critical and want to show you the left foot of fellowship."

Sad but true. Doesn't matter if you have credentials or not.

So what's the deal? You aren't a "church" member anymore, why bother?

The hope is that at SOME POINT men will get the message and begin the work of starting real New Testament Churches.

So what's YOUR deal? Are you some kind of stalker of those who question the status quo you idolize so much?

My O My Must have struck a little sensitive nerve. Naw, I'm no stalker, don't have the time or energy. But, if you were part of the UPC, saw problems in the UPC and didn't stay and fix the problems,, but left then WHY stand on the outside and point out the perceived failures.

Because there are many more saints still going to those churches and struggling..

I knew a woman that said her pastor demanded she tithe her food stamps.

If I was Pastor and I really believed in Tithing, I'd go ahead and take it, then give it back to her with interest.

Thank God, I'm a blessed person, evidently surrounded by blessed people because I have not witness this type of stuff first hand.

Yes you struck the nerve I have against people who have no clue. I have not "left the UPC" per se. Still have my license. I have not changed my doctrine. Furthermore, I can't "fix something" a pastor does not want fixed. The principle of deferring to his leadership comes into play, and should.

But I have reached the place where I realize that Jesus will hold me personally accountable on my part in fulfilling his commission. If that means I must step out of anything that might hinder that, then I will.
