What would Booker T. Washington think of Sharpton?
Mr. Washington would be hated by the modern left.

I think hate is too strong. Sharpton doesn't hate Clarence Thomas or Thomas Sowell or anyone else.
So much has happened in this country since Mr. Washington's life. His frame of referrence wouldn't include the Civil Rights Era or the many years of Jim Crow era laws and policies, the effects of which can still be seen today. |

Slavery and Jim Crow are two separate eras in American history-- two separate evils with different effects. Had Reconstruction been carried out properly in the South, then the 100 years of Jim Crow that followed would never have happened. There would have been 100 years of civic and economic stability. Tulsa wouldn't have happened. Ocoee or Rosewood? wouldn't have happened. |

Affirmative Action was not designed to address slavery. It was designed to address the much more recent and nationwide resentment and racism that stymied the educational, economic and political progress of many, many people based on their race.
The mechanisms in place today designed to help minorities were designed with the problems of 20th century America in mind. |

Al Sharpton-- The Angry Black Man
http://www.oprah.com/own-oprahs-next...ny-Years-Video He dealt with his anger-- finally. |
Re: What would Booker T. Washington think of Sharp
Jeremy, the context of his statement applies in every era. Black leaders like Jackson and Sharpton do not want blacks to prosper and for their wounds to heal.

While I don't agree with everything Jackson and Shapton says or does, I find the notion that these two want harm for any one race of people to be silly. |
Re: What would Booker T. Washington think of Sharp
Sharpton's a maggot. He shouldn't have his own show on MSNBC or be any kind of voice for black issues. Not with the death he caused years ago, and not with what he did with the girl who blatantly lied about being raped. His name should be repulsive to anyone in the black community.
Jackson is the same. A maggot. A parasite feeding off the anger and disgruntlement of the black community. Booker T Washington had those two in mind with that quote. |
