Scandal Hitting Chris Christie
 

I'm trying to understand this one. Emails have come out showing that Christie's deputy chief of staff was involved in causing lane closures last year for almost a week, which resulted in massive traffic jams -- and which led to the death of a lady because paramedics were unable to reach her in time. This was done out of spite and in retaliation because the Ft. Lee Mayor did not endorse Christie's re-election bid.

Christie is holding a presser today at 11AM EST to talk about the scandal and what he's going to do to handle it.

I have yet to read that his deputy chief of staff, Bridget Anne Kelly, has resigned or been fired. IMO, she has to be fired immediately. The email clearly shows she was directly responsible for the closures.

Not only this, but she and the others involved are responsible for contributing to the death of the lady above. I hope the family is able to file a massive lawsuit against these individuals.

Christie, of course, has denied any involvement (a la his buddy obama). What's interesting about that, however, is when it was going on he claimed it was a badly-timed traffic study. So he had the opportunity, and I cannot imagine he didn't ask what was going on and why the lanes were blocked. His inner circle, like obama's, was heavily involved.

One thing is clear: I do not want Chris Christie anywhere near the Oval Office. I hope this scandal derails any chance he had of winning the Republican nomination.

I got nauseous listening to Mark Levin talk about this.

He emphasized the fact that the woman who had a heart attack and the ambulance couldn't get to her in time was 91 years old!

He also made it a point to emphasize that it is the same Democrats he was trying to cozy up to that are grilling him! Really, I don't think that is true nor do I think it is a fair criticism in this case.

He was trying to make the "attacks" and scandal look PURELY political.

Well, the scandal is very political and the decision by he and his office cost thousands of dollars and it at least one life!

I really liked Christie and I want to see what he has to say before I start to kick this man while he is down.

However, this looks like he and his office are indeed directly responsible for creating this situation unnecessarily.

There's a reason I don't listen to talk radio anymore. Both the left and right shows are so ideologically biased towards their side, that they can't form an independent thought.

If Christie was a Democrat, I guarantee you Mark Levin would be saying something completely different. I imagine Limbaugh and Hannity are probably saying the same thing, trying to cover for Christie.

Perhaps CC's telling the truth. Maybe he really didn't direct this payback or know that it was politically motivated. IMO, that's as troubling as if he personally made the call. And even more troubling is I can't find any news about the Deputy Chief of Staff being fired or resigning. From all appearances, she's still on his staff; even though the email from her is crystal clear and proves she gave the order. Whether she was simply passing the order down from someone else, we don't know right now.

Christie has to fire this woman. Immediately. Not force her to resign. Not accept a resignation. He has to fire her. That's the only way he separates himself from this.

I doubt Mark Levin would be saying something different if Christie was a Democrat. I think he hates everyone - equally. lol

Perhaps. Admittedly I've never listened to Levin. I stopped listening to Limbaugh and Hannity in '06. Just couldn't take it anymore.

Finally finished watching the entire West Wing series. Christie reminds me of the character Arnie Vinick who was running for President as a Republican, but was more independent/centrist than right-leaning Republican. It was funny to see how Sorkin wrote the Vinick character. Pro-choice, non-religious, fiscally conservative, but socially liberal. That's somewhat how I see Christie.

Watching Christie's presser. Bridget Anne Kelley, his Deputy Chief of Staff has been fired. Good move. Even better move, his two-time campaign manager and close friend was forced to withdraw his nomination as NJ Republican Party chair. Christie stated something to the effect of, he "cannot allow personal feelings" to keep him from doing the right thing. That's something obama should have done with AG Holder.

Another good political move...Christie just announced he's going to Ft. Lee today to meet with the Mayor there and personally apologize to him and residents there.

I still find it hard to believe he didn't know anything about this. Christie said the closures "weren't a big deal" when it happened. I wonder if he still feels that way.

Well now he lost me when he says, "I have 60,000 people working for me, I cannot possibly know what they're all doing."

Hey Chris, this was your Deputy Chief of Staff!!! This is your inner circle. Your two-time campaign manager was involved. You didn't know what was going on?

I feel the same with Christie as I do with obama - either he's lying or ignorant and incompetent as to what his inner circle is doing.

Mark Levin is great when being interviewed, but very loud, obnoxious and rude on his show. Hannity is always obnoxious, even in an interview. lol

There's a great statement given by former PA Gov, Ed Rendell, while talking on CNBC's "Squawk on the Street." He said, if Christie did not know about the intentional bridge closure, then he "looks like an administrator who's totally lost control of his office and his staff." "If he lies about it today and the truth comes out, that's absolutely disastrous, and I think any presidential ambition is over."

I'd be careful with that statement, Rendell. Remember, it was obama last year claiming not just once, but several times, to not having knowledge of what was going on with his Sr staff. In fact, many Republicans made the same kind of comments about obama that Rendell is making about Christie.

If obama didn't know about the IRS scandal, if he didn't know about F&F, and if he didn't know about the extent of NSA surveillance as he claims...the obama "looks like an administrator who's totally lost control of his office and his staff."

The refreshing thing is Christie did the right thing by immediately firing his Deputy Chief of Staff. That hasn't happened with anyone involved in any obama scandal. They've either "resigned" or been quietly re-assigned somewhere else.

Rendell should be thankful the election is over, else that quote would've been made into a campaign ad against obama.
